Asmat Alania was born in 1952 in the little town Zugdidi of ancient Kolkhis, where the legendary Argonauts sought the Golden Fleece.

This land of golden sun and singing air has developed a passion for drawing at an early age of childhood and turned attention of Famous Georgian Painter Lado Gudiashvili, The Friend of the great Picasso and Modeliani. Just in Gudiashvili's workshop Asmat Alania comprehended the truth of art. Later, in 1968 Lado Gudiashvili sent a letter to Rusudan Norakidze mother of Asmat Alania, who was known in Zugdidi as a well-educated woman with unusual poetic soul, that "the girl's heart was captured by the spirit of art. She is the slave of art's beauty."

Asmat Alania, very calm and modest with brush in hands and very rebellious in soul, represents herself as a searcher of only true, original beauty. That is why in her linen she avoids reality and tries to show subconscious, ireal, inner life. She does it poetically perfectly. Her paintings are full of music and poetry.

Asmat Alania is a sad, sensitive artist. One can see it in her pictures. Original springlet of sadness is her country's poor destiny and deep feding of subconscious is the result of travelling.

The main dignity of Asmat's painting is sincerity. It is like child's innocence. Asamt Alania says about herself: From the early childhood I always had , my own world with it's rules and laws and the world with the eyes of my mother "tiny Flowers, stones of singular forms and pebbles and…"

Asmat say that before taking brush, she never has main direction of subject. First comes contours, then colours, then some mental loading, then something happens on the base of games of all this. The principal means of speech for artist is colour. "Colour is everything for me"-say Asmat. Witrh the help of colour I create space, time colour helps me to make precise dim subject which will have it's own life in future. If I do not give my own soul, spirit to all my works then I will lose interest, -says artist.

Asmats' works are very popular among the amateurs of art and collectors. Asmat's pictures are in the collections of German, French, American, Russian, and Korean artists.

Asmat Alania took part in the Children's International Exhibition in Paris in 1966-67, in Riga-1979, Russia-St. Peterburg 1986, Minsk (Belorussia) –1988, Tbilisi-1990-95.

Asmat is married. She has a lovely daughter and a kind husband.
